What we don’t see is still there….

March 4, 2009 – 9:13 am

Yesterday many of us had the pleasure of attending Billy McCord’s lecture on butterflies.  I was so fascinated by the ultraviolet bulls-eyes that flowers emit to attract pollinators that I went surfing for examples to share.

Below are two images from Naturfotograf.com of Potentilla erecta, or cinquefoil, a common butterfly plant.  Notice the red bulls eye.  This is what BIlly was talking about when he said that flowers emit Ultraviolet light to attract insects to the nectar and pollen.

It got me thinking.  There’s so much energy out there that we fail to recognize in our everyday lives.  Just because we cannot see it does not mean that it does not exist.  And even though we cannot see it, we can definitely still feel it, absorb it or emit it.

Food for thought.  Happy Day.
