Infectious Positivity…Watch out, it’s spreading
April 9, 2009 – 8:06 amA funny thing happened this morning. As I was visiting flowers around the pond, my dog Zippy trotted by my side. Every time I looked at a flower, he too looked at the flower. Try as I might to get each flower in its own frame, Zippy was equally determined to insert himself into the shot. Sure he could have just been vying for my attention, but it got me thinking about the nature of thought proximity.
Thoughts are such powerful energies that we owe it to ourselves to cultivate awareness of them. Mindfulness is nothing more than becoming aware of what is spinning around in our heads. But what we forget sometimes is how contagious thoughts can be. What you think creeps into what you do, how you present yourself to the world, how you treat others and ultimately, how you think about others things.
In other words, if we cultivate thoughts of loss, grief, sorrow, we will train ourselves to see those things all around me. If we cultivate thoughts of joy, awe, reverence and abundance, we will begin to see those things instead.
Today, I wish you happy thoughts. Take a look at those things that are good, that are beautiful and that are true. Remember, you are one of them.
