Rusted Boats

Crosby's Dock

What is it about this scene that is so attractive?  When I went to take this shot it wasn’t the boats that I was after.  Like most adventures I set out in search of birds but was drawn to these old boats.  Perhaps its the story that lies inside the rusted rigging.  What tales they could tell of better days.  Crabbing under a searing July sun.  Running aground in oyster culch in a cold December.  Each scratch its  own adventure.  Moored together for eternity like an old couple, long since retired, now spending their days basking in the sun side by side.

It reminded me of a poem given to me by a friend

May the hills and valleys resound with the sound of your silence.

  2. Feeling a little old and rusty myself this morning. How nice to see the beauty of “old and rusty”!

  4. Trish,
I especially like today’s picture of the old and rusty boat. It is always fun to see the boats come by our house each day. One of my favorite times is to get up around 6:15am and make the coffee and watch the day begin. Thank you for your pictures each day.
