Birthdays are in the air

I woke up thinking happy thoughts about several friends and family members who were celebrating birthdays today.  Is it just me or does it seem like fall is birthday season?  I know more people born in this quarter than any other time of year. Maybe I just gravitate towards Libras but it does seem a little disproportionate among my favorite people. After surfing the net for explanations I found a research study completed 2 years ago that my fall/winter birthday friends will love.

According to a Harvard university study of 21,000 babies born worldwide, scientists discovered:

  • Babies born in the fall and winter were larger and healthier at birth than summer born babies
  • Fall/Winter babies scored higher in intelligence tests at ages 4 and 7
  • Winter babies were longer but Spring babies weighed more
  • Fall Babies live longer than Spring babies – an average of 7 months
  • The twist, Summer babies are more likely to be optimists.

So to some of my favorite people, Happy Birthday.

BEE HAPPY you were born.  I sure am.
