‘Kala Christougena’ from Crete
December 20, 2008 – 9:39 amToday’s greeting comes from Crete. My sister vacations there every summer with her in-laws. She brings me wonderful stories of walking to the nearby villages, of ancient trees, of a culture with traditions that go back thousands of years, (not to mention the best hand-pressed olive oil on the planet.)
Crete is so different from our everyday lives, even from the lives of her other family members in Athens.
Crete is a special place with a powerful connection to the earth, the land and the sea. In a place where trees like this one grow for thousands of years, minutes and hours hold little value. Lives are measured by generations. Individual desires bend their willpower to the needs of the village.
A paradigm shifting experience that, once taken root, cannot help but grow slowly, insidiously into a deep-rooted philosophy of calm, long-term vision.
Kala Christougena from Susan Serlis!
