I am often asked why I chose Real Estate as a career when I’m such a naturalist at heart. Truth be told, as a Realtor I get to help people find the natural beauty that everyone wants in a home. Let’s face it, anyone can sell houses. Just look at how many Realtors are in the business these days. I don’t sell houses. I help people find that special corner of the natural world that they can call their own. It gives me such a charge when I walk through the gate of a beautiful garden and see my buyer’s eyes just light up with excitement. It’s a real blessing to me to be able to help people realize their dreams.
Yesterday I walked through 10 houses in the James Island area with my team of agents during our Thursday morning caravan. Some were nice, some were scary. Two of them I would personally tear down and rebuild if I had to. But two were spectacular. The first one was a fairly new house nestled under a 700 year old Live Oak tree that the owners affectionately named Esmerelda. As you entered the house through the Southern style front porch, it was like walking into a dream. Everything was just right. From a feng shui perspective you couldn’t have chosen a better situation. The house faced south and welcomed visitors with perfect landscaping and streams of natural light that danced around the interior as if to say welcome home, we’re glad you’re here. Best of all, it was priced VERY well at $399,900.

The second house was not nearly as perfect but with a little bit of work and a lot of love, it could be a family’s dream again. This house was offered at $1,200,000 and sat at the back of Fort Johnson Estates. The gracious, southern style front lawn with manicured, mature landscaping made you feel good as you walked to the door. What I loved about this house were the endless possibilities.
Often buyers tell me “I’ll know it when I feel it.” This was one of those houses that spoke to you. If walls could talk, the large entryway would be giggling with children running in from school. The formal dining room would be filled with a Thanksgiving Dinner blessing as twenty family members sat with heads bowed.

Marsh view from the Dock
Out back you could almost see uncle Joe teaching the boys how to throw a cast net. I stood on the dock wondering how many couples had watched the sunset over the harbor from this very spot.
On days like these, I am grateful that I am a Realtor. If I can ever be of service to you or yours, please allow me the pleasure of helping you realize your dream.
